Berlin’s governing body has announced some easing of coronavirus restrictions that will come into effect on the 4th of June.
The news comes after a falling infection rate in the German capital and a low number of deaths linked to the virus.
Senator for Economic Affairs, Ramona Pop (Greens) announced that people can start meeting indoors at bars, cafés or restaurants provided that they can provide a negative COVID-19 test result using the country’s vaccine passport system. Although, in-door venues must limit their capacity to no more than 100 people.
However, outdoor events do not need attendees to provide a negative test result provided their capacity is kept below 250.
Larger outdoor events can have an attendance of up to a maximum of 500 people, but only if they use the vaccine passport system to restrict their attendance to people who can prove a negative COVID-19 test result.
There is also a possibility that some indoor venues can increase their capacity to 500 people provided they implement an appropriate ventilation system.
