The summer party season is upon us for 2023, and that means outdoor festivals and Ibiza dance floors will be crammed with excited music lovers. With the party season in full swing, there are already summer anthems in the making and Basti Grub’s “Whoomp” is one such example.

Basti Grub is a German producer and DJ whose unique production style blends elements from a wide variety of music genres from both inside and outside the spectrum of electronic music. He is a highly respected producer who has released music on scene-leading record labels such as Crosstown Rebels, Diynamic and Hot Creations.

“Whoomp” is Basti Grub’s latest release and it’s an upbeat track that samples a hip hop classic. Its chunky drum beat and sing-along vocals give it all the ingredients to get a party started. In many ways, it is a simple track, as it’s just a vocal and some sequenced percussion, but it’s been pulled off perfectly. If you hadn’t heard the original hip hop version you could be forgiven for not realising this was a tech house rework of a classic.
