There’s something magnetic about watching MJK behind the decks.
Her sets feel alive – rooted in nature, driven by pulse, and tuned into something bigger than sound.
When she plays, you can feel Byron’s wild energy moving through her.
“Byron’s energy feels vast and open, like the land is moving through the people. I translate that into sets that feel earthy and expansive,” she shares.
If her sound had a colour, it would be red and green – fire and forest. “Red for the drive, green for the balance.” And you can feel both in her music: the heat that builds, the grounding that follows.
Before each set, MJK finds her rhythm not in solitude, but in presence. “I like to spend some time dancing and soaking in the floor before I start. It helps me tune in and decide on my opening tracks.” That ritual of connection shapes every performance – her sets aren’t planned, they’re lived.
For MJK, the perfect set isn’t about perfection at all. “My perfect set feels like when I was absolutely present in that hour or two, and I feel that the crowd also was there with me.”
Her advice for upcoming DJs is simple, but it says everything about her warmth: “Hi 🙂 My warmest welcome to the family. Can’t wait to hear your story.”
Catch MJK live at Haven this Saturday, October 18, for Flow Music Present – a night built for connection, sound, and the pure joy of presence.
