Slovenian techno legend UMEK has collaborated with American house music icon, Harry Romero.
Out via UMEK’s own 1605 record label, the release features their collaborative track “I Just Can’t Believe” plus a solo cut by UMEK.
Those who are familiar with UMEK and his record label will already have a good idea of what to expect from this release, as it’s his usual blend of explosive percussion and powerful synths.
Harry Romero’s tracks are usually focused towards house music, but he has released some techno productions via Christian Smith’s Tronic.
The release opens with UMEK and Harry Romero’s collaborative track “I Just Can’t Believe” which orientates around an ominous vocal taken from a classic track by Harry Romero. The sampled vocal has been layered with a bouncy lead synth and rumbling bassline.
Second of the tracks titled “Moving Synthetics” is built around the solid foundation of a pulsating bassline and a four-four kick drum that switches to a breakbeat in the breakdown section. The breakdown also introduces a grinding bassline that lifts the track up a notch when the main groove is reintroduced.
It’s another impressive release by UMEK and the collaboration with Harry Romero seems destined to be an underground hit, as it has all the ingredients of a classic in the making.
