The 178th release on Paul Hazendonk’s Manual Music finds Ruttenbergs returning to the label for a brand new single.
No stranger to the Manual family the Dutch producer has also appeared on sister label Cinematique as well, and also boasts releases on Traum and Parquet Recordings. Now we see Manual Music presenting Ruttenbergs first single of 2016 entitled ‘Clash Of The Coconuts’ alongside remixes from Marcelo Vasami and Reinier Zonneveld.
The original mix leads the release off and finds Ruttenbergs crafting a melodious techno composition with a variety of interesting quirks. It’s playful nature and romping groove makes for some youthful energy while it’s methodical build is sure to deliver some great moments on the dance floor. Ruttenbergs also avoids any extended break here, opting for a stripped down second act and quick transition back to the energetic groove for an exhilarating finish. Gorgeous melodic work.
The two aforementioned remixes also take the production somewhere quite interesting. First up Argentinean producer and long time Hernan Cattaneo fave Marcelo Vasami puts a deep, smooth and moderately progressive spin on the track. He’s managed to take the quirky edge off the original and pull some new-found emotion out of it. Classic chord changes, a warm underbelly and unique designs all converge for one of Marcelo’s best ever remixes in fact. Generally known for an even deeper, dubbier sound the Argentinean is sure to touch a lot of hearts with this one. Beautiful remix from Marcelo.
The release is closed out with Reinier Zonneveld returning to the label for his fourth appearance. The Dutch artist is fresh off the release of his ‘Rushchamber EP’ on Still Vor Talent and also has outings on Tronic Music, Minus and Traum etched in his discography. Here he takes the melodic original and strips it right down into a tough and funky techno inspired creation. Rugged beats and mutoid stabs pave the way into a tension filled break, complete with an exhilarating build and suitably minimal, yet tripped out drop. Really interesting stuff from Reiner and no doubt an absolute bomb on the dance floor. My favourite version on the release and one hell of a way to close it out. Highly Recommended.
