Adam Beyer is a global techno titan. His Drumcode label is one of the most known in the world. The man himself has long been a powerful force in the genre as a DJ, label boss and producer, and continues to this day.
This Saturday August 24th, he returns with his Drumcode Festival to NDSM in Amsterdam from midday until 11pm.
The Swede himself will be playing, but he will be joined by a huge line-up of names including Alan Fitzpatrick, ANNA, Charlotte de Witte, Reinier Zonneveld and Sam Paganini who come to the festival for the first time. Returning favourites Amelie Lens, Enrico Sangiuliano, Ida Engberg and Ilario Alicante will also line up and ensure its something special.
Ahead of the event we look at five of his biggest tunes.
Adam Beyer – Stone Flower
Is the vocal sample from this Obama? No one knows but plenty have speculated that the shadowy vocal loop layered over the slick drums is the US President. Either way, this is a big, attention grabbing tune.
Adam Beyer vs Dense & Pika – Going Down
Never afraid to collaborate, the big man served up this bomb with UK pair Dense & Pika in 2016. It was a heavyweight tune with gritty drums and dark vocals that really drill into the night.
Adam Beyer – Pluto
This is one from Beyer’s A-Sides compilation that is all about the hottest tracks on the Drumcode label. Bulky kicks, glitchy perc and haunting vocals all make it a proper warehouse classic.
Adam Beyer – Teach Me
This one finds the Swede going pretty deep, with dub bass and an underwater feel really making it a hypnotic groove. The mood is shadowy and subtle, with suggestive sounds for in the distance to keep you on your toes.
Adam Beyer & Bart Skills – Your Mind
Another collaboration, this time with long time techno talent Bart Skills. The result is one of Beyer’s more melodic cuts, with suspensory synths bringing soulful vibes to his slippery minimal beats. It’s a classy weapon, for sure.
