Proton revisits Silinder’s truly beautiful ‘Slow Emotion’ from 2014’s ‘Basement EP’, with new interpretations from Dousk and Andre Sobota.
Dousk does an excellent job of taking Silinder’s track and re-imagining it as a soulful, chunky, bass-led slice of contemporary house music, with strong, soulful vocal work, funky percussion, and a bassline that offers a strong nod to Silinder’s original. In contrast, Andre Sobota keeps the track at 110bpm, and doubles-down on the dubby atmospherics and gorgeous interwoven melodies and dreamy pads. The result is a deeply moving piece of music that’s perhaps even less likely than Silinder’s version to set dancefloors ablaze, but which offers 6 and a half minutes of pure aural bliss.
‘Slow Emotion’ was an absolute gem, and despite taking it in very different directions, both remixes here really do justice to Silinder’s track. I can’t recommend this release more highly than that.
