New Survey Explores Neurodiversity In The Electronic Music Industry

The results aim to track things like ADHD, dyslexia, dyscalculia, dyspraxia and Tourette Syndrome.

AFEM is a global voice for the electronic music industry, representing community, culture and commerce.

The Association For Electronic Music (AFEM) has launched a pioneering new survey exploring neurodiversity in the electronic music industry workplace. It is the first of its kind in the electronic music industry.

The survey will be crucial in helping inform organisations and employees alike about what it’s like to work in the electronic music industry with a neurodiverse condition or employ people that have one. This survey takes neurodiversity to mean ASD (Autism Spectrum Disorder), ADHD, dyslexia, dyscalculia, dyspraxia and Tourette Syndrome.

The survey’s results will help organisations and individuals know how best to support neurodiverse music industry professionals, helping them to have the means and working environment they need to thrive and succeed. It also aims to help further reduce the stigmatisation that neurodiverse conditions still attract in some areas of the world.

Tristan Hunt, AFEM Health Group founder and Regional Manager said, “For the past five years, AFEM has made championing mental health awareness central to our work. While we’re heartened to see a big increase across the industry in people’s understanding and support of mental health, the subject of neurodiversity still is new or not well known to many. AFEM’s new neurodiversity survey aims to change that. By taking part in this survey, you will help create an industry that better understands and supports people with neurodiverse conditions, so making it a happier and healthier place for everyone who works in it.

The survey is quick to complete, and all responses are completely anonymous. Summary survey data will be shared publicly later this year to help drive change forward.
