Hanne & Lore are a back-to-back whirlwind of sound that engulf the dance floor in good time vibes.
Steffen Neuhaus & Stefan Helmke aka Hanne & Lore have a vibrant history in electronic music. In addition to making music and playing DJ sets, the guys also run their own label, and even ran a record shop.
Their label Heulsuse is a major outlet for their own music, but they are also known for their high-profile releases on the likes of Monaberry, Kittball and Snatch! Records.
Taking inspiration from the lifestyle and music of the ‘80s and ‘90s, the guys have a distinctive style and have played regularly at esteemed clubs like Tresor, Flex, Hive and Watergate. They have also performed at festivals such as Nature One, Rave on Snow, Nation of Gondwana and Helene Beach among others.
In addition to their own productions, they are also talented remix artists who have reworked tracks by the likes of Super Flu, Monkey Safari, Tube & Berger and Andhim.
In addition to providing us with this exclusive podcast, the guys also took the time to answer some questions…
Thanks for recording us a podcast, could you describe the vibe/energy were you trying to capture with your track selection?
As always with our sets, there is no preparation or big considerations beforehand. We just play back-to-back and each one of us picks our favourite songs. This is not different if we play gigs or record a podcast, and that is what makes our trademark Hanne & Lore sound.
What’s your favourite track in the mix, and did you play any of your own music?
We have our new song “Throwback Track” in the mix, which can be heard at around 21mins and 30 seconds. This one is special for us, because after more than two years of taking a break from releasing our original music, there is finally something new from us. Released on our own label “Heulsuse” the track has the perfect vibe to reminds us of times before COVID when we all could party carefree.
Talking of your own tracks, what’s new in your release schedule, as we would love to know more about your new music?
We are still working on new tracks, and are planning several releases this year. All our new tracks are slightly different in style, but they should still have that Hanne & Lore familiar feel.
What do you think would be the perfect setting for someone to listen to your mix, and why do you think that would be the best place?
There is no special place for our sound. Our songs and mixes are meant to be enjoyed everywhere, whether on the beach, in the bathtub or in a stuffy club. It’s always about the musical journey.
Do you have a message for your fans or anything else you want to add?
