Faithless Frontman ‘Maxi Jazz’ Passed Away Age 65

Maxi Jazz was a founding member of the iconic dance act Faithless that he formed in 1995 with fellow members Rollo, Sister Bliss and Jamie Catto.

Faithless are a UK group that went global following iconic hits such as ‘Insomnia’, ‘God Is A DJ’ and ‘We Come 1’.

It was announced over the festive period that Maxi Jazz passed away on the 23rd of December aged 65 and Flow Music wanted to take a moment to honour such a legend of the electronic music scene.

He was the vocalist who made Faithless’ hits so iconic and he was Nichiren Buddhist who accredited his success to his faith.

In 2015, Maxi Jazz parted ways with Faithless to be the frontman and singer in his own group called Maxi Jazz & The E-Type Boys.

Long-time fans of electronic music always remember the lyrics of ‘Insomnia’ and ‘God Is A DJ’ which were written and performed by Maxi Jazz.

On the day after his death (December 24th 2022), Faithless posted a statement on their official Facebook page which reads “We are heartbroken to say Maxi Jazz died last night. He was a man who changed our lives in so many ways. He gave proper meaning and message to our music.

“He was also a lovely human being with time for everyone and a wisdom that was both profound and accessible. It was an honour and, of course, a true pleasure to work with him.

“He was a brilliant lyricist, a DJ, a Buddhist, a magnificent stage presence, car lover, endless talker, beautiful person, moral compass and genius.

Rollo, Sister Bliss x”.
