DJ Alfredo is crowdfunding after suffering a stroke

The legendary Ibiza DJ lost his income during the pandemic, and needs help covering essential medical costs.

DJ Alfredo is an Ibiza legend who held a world-renowned residency at Amnesia, and pioneered whats today is known as the Balearic style. He is also the DJ who is accredited to have influenced the 90’s acid house boom in the UK after a group of holiday makers were inspired by one of his sets, and brought what they heard back to the UK.

That group of holiday makers included Paul Oakenfold, Pete Tong, Danny Rampling and Nicky Holloway, who today are some of the most highly respected people in the world of electronic music.

The aforementioned friends started a successful club night that accredited its sound to Ibiza, and that put the Spanish island on the map as the home of acid house and beleric music.

In the 80’s and early 90’s, clubbing holiday makers flocked to Ibiza to see DJ Alfredo play, and from that point he has remained one of the island’s most iconic club spinners.

COVID has hit many DJ’s hard and caused financial issues due to loss of revenue from playing gigs, but some have been hit harder than others. DJ Alfredo is now an ageing man, and recently suffered a stroke.

Loss of earning from his gigs have left him struggling to pay medical bills, and he has started a GoFundMe page to help cover his care.

On the GoFundMe page, he writes: “Dear friends, with a heavy heart I come to ask for your help,” “This last year has been a disaster for so many of us, I have had no work or income for almost a year and recently suffered a stroke which has affected my health, and like many in the music world my situation is very bad. I can no longer pay my rent or support my family and so I humbly ask if you can help with your donations so I can keep going.

“At the same time, I want to start a project in which I can give something back to all my supporters through my history in the world of music and nightlife: mixes, posters, music and all the work I’ve done for over 30 years, sharing that work with you, and so, open a channel where everyone can participate. Thank you.

So far, it’s reported he has raised over half his target total, and you can donate to the page by following the link HERE
