After much anticipation, Melbourne-based techno and electronica producer Charles Oliver releases his debut LP ‘A Glimpse From The Other Side’. Filled with atmospheric soundscapes, haunting synths and intricate production, Oliver’s tracks take listeners on a melodic and psychedelic techno journey.

This album demonstrates the depth of Oliver’s production ability, with each intricate melody and deftly layered element combining in harmony throughout. The LP takes the listener on a mind-bending journey, with emotive soundscapes that effortlessly flow from tranquil and ethereal, to dark and hypnotic. Each track weaves together multiple motifs, resulting in a meticulously crafted arrangement of evolving instrumentation.

With this dynamic and well-rounded body of work, Oliver continues to solidify his presence within Australia’s leftfield techno scene. His music has already garnered the approval of renowned techno artists including Richie Hawtin, John Digweed, Joris Voorn and Joseph Capriati, further highlighting Oliver’s promising rise.

Talking about the release, Oliver said – “From a production perspective, I really wanted the album to fill all parts of a night-out that typically make up my ideal sort of dream-like rave experience. The tracks all have a place in that space, beginning with HESITATE; which I have opened with in recent sets. For me this track really sets the mood and energy of where I want my live sets to head. FORMULATE specifically holds its spot as the more peak-time, fun, bouncy, club-friendlier identity for me. The track idea came out so easily and I remember challenging myself to use fewer percussive elements to keep its simplicity (compared to the others!). It’s definitely the track of the album that makes me ‘move’ more no matter how emotively hypnotized I would feel at 2am on a Friday night”.

Oliver’s reputation in Australia and abroad is fast growing and has seen him tapped for performances on some of Australia’s most iconic stages including Rainbow Serpent and Melbourne’s Revolver nightclub. With a live show being developed and an EU/UK tour locked in for summer 2023, Charles Oliver is certainly an artist to keep an eye on.
